Lipstick kisses . . .

Let's just say we've been a little bored this week. Jack has been sick again and so we've been hanging out at home. Again.
He's been obsessed with this Valentine's day card that I bought. I intended to send it to my parents as an announcement that we were expecting. Then I couldn't wait to tell and just called them instead. So the card's been sitting around and Jack's been fascinated by the lipstick kisses on the baby's head. So he decided he wanted to look like the baby.
Disinfecting the house today. As a blizzard rages outside.
Spring, we're ready anytime . . . Please come soon!

3D

Yesterday was perhaps the worst weather day we have yet experienced in Ithaca. Interesting, as the day before was beautiful, sunny, high 50s and felt like spring. Yesterday we had high winds, blizzard conditions, and below 0 windchills.
Jake was a great dad and while I took a sick day he had fun with the boys, including taking them to see "Gnomeo and Juliet" in 3D. They liked the movie, but probably liked the 3D glasses more. James has worn them pretty much ever since (with the noteable exception of church).
Goofballs. Wonder which of their parents they take after?

Another Children's Book . . .

Another children's book recommendation. I really ought to buy this one but never have for some reason, but it's been one of our favorites for a long time. We checked it out again at the library this week and I'd forgotten how much I liked it. It's a little bit silly and I love the illustrations. They are fantastic.
The book is written and illustrated by husband/wife team Don and Audrey Wood who have some other fantastic children's books like the "Alphabet Mystery" series and another fantastically illustrated favorite of mine, "Piggies."
I think we'll be busy reading this one every night until it's due back at the library . . .

Translation . . .

Just to clarify Jake's (somewhat cryptic!) post--
Yes, baby Veigel #3 is due September 2nd. This one was a pleasant surprise with no medical intervention necessary! Thanks for all the congratulations and well-wishes we've received already. We appreciate having so many great friends.

Sickness and Sock Monkeys . . .

My latest crafting attempt was a result of my desperation to entertain myself and Jackson. He's been sick since Wednesday with high fevers, stuffy nose, throwing up, the works. So we've been hanging out at home. In between bouts of sickness, he's been bored. He found a bag of stuffing with my sewing stuff and wanted to make something with it.
Thanks to the indispensible Internet, the idea for sock monkeys was born. I found an excellent tutorial, but when I tried to link it here it didn't work. So, if you're interested, just do a google search for "urban threads sock monkey."
We went to the store and actually bought some new knee socks in fun designs (hey, I love my cute knee socks and I'm not done wearing them yet!). Target had some pretty inexpensive ones. I had everything else we needed at home: buttons, thread, and embroidery floss.
Of course we had to make one for James, also. Just a warning, they're a little time consuming! These two cuties took me the better part of 2 days. But, I was here with poor Jack anyway, and he had fun watching them come together and helping stuff the parts.
And, Jack's (which I stayed up finishing till 11:30 last night) turned out to be a great comfort (to him at least) when he was up half the night last night.
Here's hoping for a more "well" week ahead!!
